- The Department of Veterans Affairs, Wilkes-Barre Veterans Affairs Medical Center hereby gives notice of the intend to award a sole source contract to American Red Cross Northeastern Pennsylvania Region, 29 New Commerce Blvd., Ashley,Pa. 18706 as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-(b), soliciting from a single source to satisfy agency requirements. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. The American Red Cross will provide the following: CLIN 0001: Red Blood cells- to include Leukocyte reduced by filtration, Pedi Packs, Deglycerolized, Requested Prescription Autologous. Platelets “ to include Leukoreduced Random Donor Platelets, Pheresis Platelets, Pheresis Platelets (HLA Match). Plasma products “ to included Fresh Frozen, Cryo-Poor Plasm, Cryoprecipitate AHF. Irradiation for Leukoreduced Random Donor Platelets, Whole Blood, Red Blood Cells, Pheresis Platelets. Patient Reference Testing service will be required on samples that the Transfusion Service will need to utilize on an as needed basis.The Transfusion Service will receive full credit for expired red blood cells or any blood product found to be unsuitable for use. A minimum inventory must be maintained by the Transfusion service. Daily routine delivery is required, along with any STAT requests which must be filled within 30 minutes of the request to the supplier. Final responses to this will be done on 12:00 PM, Daylight Savings Time (DST), on Tuesday 6 December 2011. Oral submissions of information are not acceptable and will not be accepted in response to this notice.
