Description
Department of the Navy, Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters Division, Patuxent River, MD, NAVAIR, HQ, Building 2272, 47123 Buse Road, Unit IPT, Patuxent River, MD 20670. The Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters Division, Patuxent River, MD intends to award a delivery order under the Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) N00019-11-G-0001 to The Boeing Company for the procurement and storage of 20 Sets of Row (P/N F1515596/TAB21461 uses 3 per 5 X 5 AMLCD) and Column (P/N F151515600/TAB21464 uses 6 per 5 X 5 AMLCD) Driver Chips for the 5 X 5 AMLCD glass used on the Multiple Direction Indicator (MDI) Display. The Boeing Company, St Louis, MO, as the Integrator of the F-18, provided notification to the Navy that the row and column driver chips used on the F/A-18 aircraft are going obsolete. There are no other known parts that meet form, fit and function replacement requirements, and a redesign of these parts would cause significant delay and undue costs, therefore, the Navy is pursuing a life of type buy of these driver chips. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the F/A-18 is the only source capable of procuring, managing and storing this part to protect the life cycle in support of the F/A-18. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. (c) (1) as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 (Only on responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements).
