- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst (NAWCAD) has been tasked to procure equipment and training to support the Combat SkySat Tactical Communication System. The purpose of the Combat SkySat Tactical Communication System is to extend the range of standard warfighter radios by providing near space communication relays for voice and data. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate this requirement on a sole source basis with Space Data Corporation, Chandler, AZ under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. Space Data Corporation is the only known supplier that possesses the technical data required to manufacture the Combat SkySat Tactical Communication System and associated equipment. In addition, Space Data is the only known supplier who possesses a proprietary neck mechanism required for attachment to the SkySat payload and has the ability to operate at altitudes above 65,000 feet. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all responses received within fifteen days after the date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition, based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive requirement.
