- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the acquisition of a tunnel demagnetizer (degauser)and accessories, as follows: One CTS-U Tunnel Demagnetizer to include the following accessories, a power module, andwooden case. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Maurer Magnetic AG pursuant to FAR 13.106,for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available fromonly one source. The Maurer Magnetic AG, degausser uses low frequency pulsedemagnetization technology, proprietary to Maurer magnetic AG, which allows the degaussof science grade space electronics and instruments without electrically and thermallystressing them. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon December 13, 2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
