- Request for Information - conducting research on Medical Device Implant Tracking THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS OR A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS; IT IS STRICTLY A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI). NEITHER UNSOLICITED PROPOSALS NOR ANY OTHER KINDS OF OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED IN RESPONSE TO THIS RFI. NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED PURSUANT TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. 1. SUBJECT: The Air Force Medical Information Systems Test Bed (AFMISTB) is conducting market research on Medical Device Implant Tracking suitable for use in effectively tracking implantable devices to ensure patient safety. This is a separate Request for Information than was previously published by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) as RFI N65236_SNOTE_00000000 dated 10/20/2011, and has different response requirements. Responses are due to this request for information (RFI) by 5:00 PM Central Standard Time on January 3, 2012. SEE ATTACHED RFI FOR FULL DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT. The Office of the Surgeon General, has identified a need for Medical Device Implant Tracking system with an effective and efficient means for the Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) military treatment facilities (MTFs) to track non-tissue medical device implants, to notify the manufacturer whenever a non-tissue medical device is implanted, as well as when a device is recalled, and to notify patients affected by a non-tissue medical device implant recall. Response to this RFI must be submitted to Ms. Ginger Boatright, Business Systems Analyst, via e-mail to afmistb@us.af.mil. Email responses should be no more than thirty (30) pages in length and no larger than 10 megabytes (MB) in size.
