Description
WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS- Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for construction of a 250,000 gallon elevated water storage tank, booster pumping station, associated water main and appurtenances as required by drawings and specifications. STATEMENT OF BID ITEM(S) A.ITEM I, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION - Water System Improvements: Work includes general construction of Water System Improvements including an elevated water storage tank, booster pumping station, associated water main, site work, electrical and utility systems, and the demolition and disposal of an existing elevated water storage tank and water main. Total Project Duration - 300 calendar days. B.ITEM II, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION - Backflow Prevention: Work includes demolition and new work including piping, backflow preventers, insulation, and certain other items. Backflow prevention upgrades include demolition, new backflow preventers and piping modifications as required by drawings and specifications titled Backflow prevention Project number 529-09-116. Separate Specifications and Drawings are provided for the Backflow Prevention Work. Backflow Prevention and Water Systems Improvements work shall be considered one complete and stand alone project contract. Total Project Duration - 300 calendar days. C.ALTERNATE NO.1: Total Base Bid less deduct - Specification Section 221125, Packaged Booster Pumping Station and SCADA - The Contractor shall provide a deduct for the deletion of the SCADA System, Part 3. The fluid manager will provide the monitoring of the system and operation of the alarms. Project Duration Remains - 300 calendar days. D.ALTERNATE NO. 2: Alternate #1 less deduct - Specification Section 221125, Packaged Booster Pumping Station and SCADA - The Contractor shall provide a deduct for providing a metal exterior and fiberglass roofing system (Paragraph 4.6 and 4.9), to be provided by the booster pumping station manufacturer, in lieu of the specified contractor supplied brick exterior and metal roofing system. Project Duration Remains 300 - calendar days. E.ALTERNATE NO. 3: Alternate #2 less deduct - Specification Section 221125, Packaged Booster Pumping Station and SCADA - The Contractor shall provide a deduct for the deletion of the chemical feed equipment as identified in Paragraphs 5.21 and 5.22 in the booster pumping station as shown on the drawings. Project Duration Remains - 300 calendar days. F.ALTERNATE NO. 4: Alternate #3 less deduct - Specification Section 221216, Facility Elevated Potable Water Storage Tank - The Contractor shall provide the cost to furnish and install a cathodic protection system as specified in Section 264210, Cathodic Protection. Project Duration Remains - 300 calendar days. G.ALTERNATE NO. 5: Alternate #4 less deduct - Specification Section 321216, Asphalt Paving - The Contractor shall provide a deduct for deleting the resurfacing of the existing asphalt pavement as shown on the drawings. The limits of the pavement are shown on the drawings. Project Duration Remains - 300 calendar days. Solicitation VA-244-12-B-0045 will be available on or about November 18, 2011. Bid Opening Date and location will be specified in the solicitation. Pre-bid conference is tentatively scheduled for November 29, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. location to be specified in the solicitation, VA Medical Center, Butler, PA 16001. All respondents must obtain amendments at this website, hard copies will not be mailed. All questions must be submitted in writing, email or by mail to the issuing office by the date specified in the solicitation prior to bid opening. NAICS Code is 237110, and is applicable to this acquisition with a Business Size Standard of $33.5 million. Magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Time for completion is 300 calendar days from notice to proceed. This is a total Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business set-aside. NOTICE THE SOLICITATION WILL BE ISSUED ON OR ABOUT NOVEMBER 18, 2011 AND THE PRE-BID CONFERENCE IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 29, 2011 AT 1:00 P.M.
