Description
In order to stay aligned with its mission to support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Louisiana Recovery Office (LRO) is hosting a Disaster Contracting Industry Day. The purpose of the Industry Day is to inform local businesses about future requirements and to gain industry insight regarding best practices and standards to assist with requirements development. Since each disaster is unique and brings new challenges and opportunities, the types of requirements needed to support the mission vary. The following is a sample list of requirements that may be needed based upon historical data: • Purchase of temporary housing units (THU) • Hauling and installation of THUs • Maintenance of THUs • Deactivation of THUs • Site preparation • Portable toilets • Base camps • Light towers • Grounds maintenance • Forklift rentals • Archeological studies • Temporary staffing services • Advertisement services • Janitorial services • Debris Removal • Food Service • Laundry Service • Hotel Contracts • Transportation Services Key personnel will be on hand to explain FEMA's role during a disaster and to answer questions. Additionally, in order to support and further foster successful business participation, presentations on how to respond to notices for federal opportunities and Central Contractor Registration (CCR) will be given. Companies are asked to register by Friday, October 21, 2011. The first 40 registered companies wanting to present their capabilities to FEMA personnel in one-on-one breakout sessions will be allowed five (5) minutes to present. The Industry Day event is free and open to all interested businesses, although Louisiana businesses are especially encouraged to attend since requirements resulting in contracts or blanket purchase agreements will be awarded to businesses residing or primarily doing business in the state of Louisiana. In compliance with DHS Acquisition Alert 12-02, Identification will be required at check-in. No meals or beverages will be provided at the event. Submission of capability statement does not constitute a formal proposal submission, that it is only to be used for Government market research efforts, and that it cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Submission of a capability statement is voluntary and DHS will not provide reimbursement costs in preparing abstracts. DHS is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to vendors with respect to any information the vendor submitted. Submission of a capability statement does not constitute a RFP or Government sponsorship of contractor charges against any existing Government contract for attendance or proposals efforts. Any information submitted in response to sources sought/request for information (e.g., capability statement) is subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act, USC 552(a). The Government does not request any proprietary information be submitted, nor shall it be liable, for any consequential damages for any proprietary information. Prior to the event, all Industry Day presenters shall seek approval of content of presentations for the Head of Contracting Activity. Post briefing slides of Industry Day to Federal Business Opportunities no later than four (4) days after the Industry Day. The event will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Dillard University, Professional Schools Building, Georges Auditorium, 2601 Gentilly Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70122. Those planning to attend should submit the attached registration form to Ashly.J.Banks@dhs.gov and Anthony.Collins@dhs.gov. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A NOTICE OF SOLICITATION ISSUANCE. THIS IS A NOTICE FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. Any formal solicitations will be announced separately. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information provided in response to this Notice. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. The U.S. Government will not reimburse any party attending or participating for costs incurred for this event.
