Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in Washington, DC, intends to award a Purchase Order for co-sponsorship for the 2011 American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) National Training Conference & Career Fair, to be held November 10-12, 2011 in Minneapolis, MN. The award for this requirement will be made under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The purpose of this Purchase Order is enabling EPA to comply with Presidential Executive Order 13270. The AISES National conference complies with the Executive Order by supporting tribal colleges and universities and providing scholarships for native students to attend t he training conference and by having faculty from these colleges participate in the workshops and presentations. Based on market research and other available information, it has been determined that AISES is uniquely qualified to satisfy the Government's requirement as they are the only organization hosting the 2011 AISES conference, which provides the following unique mixture of benefits: 1.Provide a training conference which hosts a large number on Native Americans students in the Science and Engineering fields which meet the qualifications for Internships, fellowships and employment at EPA. 2.Provide a substantial increase in the representation of American Indians and Alaska Natives in science, engineering, and other related technology disciplines in which EPA can tap into to meet their needs to diversify and meet recruitment goals. 3.Presentation opportunities to AI/AN high school students to increase, pipeline, and encourage outreach to younger students. 4.Opportunities to meet tribal colleges and university students pursing science and engineer degrees. Under this Purchase Order, the EPA will be provided with the following tangible deliverables: 1.Two (2) Exhibit Booth Spaces 2.One (1) Full page advertisement in the conference program 3.23 Registrations for Native American Students from Tribal Colleges and Universities 4.Large recognition sign in lobby as co-sponsor Due to the above-mentioned facts, it has been determined that American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) is uniquely qualified to satisfy the Government's requirement and that no other vendor is able to provide these required supplies and services. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of meeting EPA's requirement, as stated herein, may submit their corporate capabilities, which, if received by the response date of this announcement, may be considered. Responses or questions to this posting must be in writing and submitted to Nicole Humphrey, Contracting Officer at humphrey.nicole@epa.gov by the listed response date. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
