- This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. This is not a request for proposals and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The purpose of this sources sought synopsis is to gain knowledge of commercially available products/services that may be of interest to the United States Coast Guard (USCG). The United States Coast Aviation Logistics Center is conducting market research to determine manufacturers and suppliers of plating services as described follows: The USCG is looking for companies capable of providing the following plating services/metal finishing processes; Colored Sulfuric Anodizing, per MIL-A-8625 Type 1,2,3 and all classes Black Oxide Coating, MIL-C-1392D Chromic Anodizing, per MIL-A-8625 Copper Plating/Copper Flash, per MIL-C-14550 Nickel Plating, per QQ-N-290 Phosphate Coating, per MIL-P-16232 Zinc Plating, per ASTM B633 Cadmium Plating, Class 2, Type 2 & Cadmium Bright Deposit. Also Matte Hydrogen Free Bath for parts heat treated to 39 Rochelle C Scale, Cadmium Plate with Chromate Cadmium Flash Plate, Class 2, Type 2, per QQ-P416F Metal Stripping to remove Cadmium, per TT-C-490C Silver Plating Matte and Bright, per QQ-S-365 Brush Plating: Cadmium/Anodized and Silver Alodine/Chromocoat Treatment, per MIL-C-5541 Baking Services Responses to this notice should include company name, address, telephone number, point of contact (POC), and complete product/service details, brochures, and etc. which will allow the USCG to understand your product/service and options. Also, state approximate lead-time for acquiring your services. The Government believes the applicable NAICS Code is 332813 Electroplating, Plating, Polishing, Anodizing, and Coloring. The size of business pursuant to North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) is 500 employees. Please respond to the following questions: (1) Is your business a large or small business? (2) If small, does your firm qualify as a small, emergent business, or a small, disadvantaged business? (3) If disadvantaged, specify under which disadvantaged group and is your firm certified under Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act? (4) Is your firm a certified "hub zone" firm? (5) Is your firm a woman-owned or operated business? (6) Is your firm a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned? (7) Is your product listed on a GSA schedule? (8) Do you have other government agencies using the product, and if so which agencies, POC's and contract numbers? Responses to this sources sought notice shall be mailed to USCG Aviation Logistics Center, 1664 Weeksville Road, Elizabeth City, North Carolina 27909, Attn: Gail Twiford, Bldg 101A or emailed (preferable) to Gail.M.Twiford@uscg.mil. The secondary point of contact is Claudette.Y.Surrento@uscg.mil. Telephone responses will not be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 19 October 2011 at 4:30 PM EST. Firms responding to this announcement that fail to provide all of the required information cannot be used to help the Government make the appropriate acquisition decisions which is the intent of this sources sought notice. This notice is to help the USCG in determining potential sources only. All firms responding to this sources sought notice are advised that their response to this notice is NOT a request to be considered for a contract award. All interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this announcement. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are NOT a request to be added to a prospective offerors list or to receive a copy of the solicitation. Reimbursement will not be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement and any follow-up information. After the review of the responses to this sources sought announcement, and if the Government still plans to proceed with the acquisition, a solicitation announcement will be published in FEDBIZOPS. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are NOT adequate responses to any future solicitation announcement. All interested parties must respond to any future solicitation announcement separately from responding to this sources sought synopsis. Again, this is NOT a request for proposals and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract.
