- The Smithsonian Institution's National Zoological Park (NZP) intends to issue a Request for Quotes ("RFQ") from carousel providers in October 2011. NZP strives to make each visitor's experience an unforgettable one, and by bringing a carousel to the National Zoo, NZP hopes to contribute to that goal. A carousel at the National Zoo will help NZP to fulfill its vision of providing an enhanced visitor experience and making a connection to NZP's conservation message. NZP seeks to purchase a carousel that will meet the specifications set forth in the RFQ from a carousel provider who will design, deliver and install it. In advance of the carousel installation at the National Zoo, the site will be designed, constructed, and built to include an open-air pavilion. The advance site work and pavilion is not part of the carousel contract. Details will be provided in the RFQ. Interested vendors should note that the RFQ is not an RFQ for a federal contract and is therefore not governed by federal procurement procedures.
