- LA AFB Industry Event Announcement As part of the Department of Defense (DOD) Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Project, the United States Air Force announced that it will establish the first 100% PEV Base at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The objective is to replace all general purpose fleet vehicles with plug-in electric vehicles, including fully-electric, plug-in hybrid electric, and extended-range electric vehicles. Force protection and emergency vehicles are exempt from electrification. To the fullest extent feasible, the PEV's will be grid-integrated to generate value through grid ancillary services, such as frequency regulation and peak shaving. In support of this effort, the General Services Administration (GSA) and the United States Air Force are hosting an industry forum at Los Angeles Air Force Base from 8am-1pm on Monday, October 3, 2011. This is an opportunity for prospective vendors of PEV's, Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), and other related products/services to present their capabilities to Air Force leadership and GSA. Participants interested in presenting product displays and/or physical hardware MUST coordinate logistics with Mr. Camron Gorguinpour at camron.gorguinpour@pentagon.af.mil or (703) 697-6300. Interested parties should be able to demonstrate commercial availability of their products/services and ensure compliance with the requirements of the Trade Agreements Act of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
