Description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY - This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB) and does not serve to bind the U.S. Government in any way. Parties providing information shall not be reimbursed for costs associated with the preparation of their responses. The Government is exploring options for a system for the Base Postal Service Center (BPSC) located in Vicenza Italy. The requirement must fulfill the following through use of computers and handheld devices. 1) Package in-processing, 2) local warehouse package tracking, 3) package notification to customers 4) tracking of official mail, and 5)conduct of registered mail operations. The system must track the inflow and outflow of packages and parcels and maintain a database of on-hand and delivered items on a central server. The system should have the capability to generate email messages to registered participants when packages and parcels arrive. Hand held devices must serve as scanners and entry points of parcel information to be relayed to the central server. These handhelds must be wirelessly linked to mobile thermal printers to print labels with parcel information to include specified USPS bar codes. Additionally, the system must: 1. Hand Held Devices: Custom Field Filtering to give clerks the ability to link specific data to custom fields, thereby searching by personnel associated to a particular box numbers. 2. Load Existing Inbound Records (handheld device): User must be given then ability to load records already inbound to correct errors that are otherwise non-retrievable on the hand held devices. 3. Security Login (Hand Held Device): Clerks must be able to log in one time to the device and not required to conduct a log-in for each transaction. 4. USPS 3849 Form Functionality: Automated production of the USPS required Form 3849 and database storage. 5. Generate Return to Sender labels. 6. Custom field label configuration for USPS Form 3907: Allow for the PSC to customize package notifications to fit Army Post Office Standards and to send with customizable/applicable information to the customer. 7. Data Sorting: System must have the capability to sort by multiple fields (numeric, alpha numeric, etc) 8. Level notice identifier for USPS Form 3907: Capability for sorting notifications based on manually input search criteria. 9. Multiple e-mails: Allows for system to send package information to multiple e-mails at customers' choosing rather than to only one e-mail address. Regional Contracting Office-Vicenza is seeking the following information: 1. Potential Respondents shall provide product data sheets with salient characteristics for their systems and specify how they address the above requirements. 2. Potential respondents shall address compatibility with the UPS TrackPad system (Hardware and software) and the Zebra QL 420 Thermal Printer. 3. Potential respondents shall also address if their systems have a current Certificate of Net worthiness. This Request for Information serves as Market Research only, no a firm commitment on the part of the U.S. Government nor does it constitute an order.
