- The Army Contracting Command - Rock Island intends to solicit/negotiate and award on a sole source basis with E H Wachs Co., Lincolnshire, IL, under the authority of 6.302-1. The requirement is for an APE 6104 MLRS Demate Station that will be used for the demilitarization of obsolete and aged M26 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) rockets. The tooling must be capable of cutting the MLRS rocket at 8.6 inches, 10.6 inches and 77.1 inches axial distance. The 8.6 and 10.6 inch cuts will be made by the same machine tool utilizing two opposing offset chip-less wheel cutters. A separate and duplicate machine tool with a single chip-less wheel cutter will make the 77.1 inch cut. Two cutting tools (three cutting heads) are required for this package. The unit is to be installed by the manufacturer on the cutting table provided and integrated with the existing equipment by the manufacturer. This equipment must be certified safe for use in explosive operations. As of this date, only one source has been qualified. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A formal solicitation document is not available. No award will be made on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. Interested parties shall identify their interest in writing and must include prices and descriptions containing sufficient technical documentation to establish capability to meet the requirements. If no responses are received which indicate a comparable source is available within 15 days of publication of this announcement, the Government will proceed with an award to E H Wachs Co. FOB Destination, Defense Ammunition Center, McAlester, OK.
