- Description
- This action will be a new contract based upon results from previous contract W9113M-10-C-0008. This is a task effort funded by Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Office (JIEDDO). The main objective of the effects testing of the optically triggered multi-cycle Switch Bypass Source (SBS) High Power Microwave (HPM) Generator is to enhance the governments understanding of the parametrical configuration of the system parameters, perform modeling of the electric field system in relationship to how they relate to the scale sizing of the system to defeat various targets. The performance for the basic contract is 5 months. The estimated dollar value is $400K. The basic contract effort is to: 1.Perform effects testing on various targets supplied by the government at a distance of greater than 3 meters. 2.Set the SBS Generator to a selection of center frequencies to determine which one is most effective against each target. 3.Vary the power to determine the minimum power that is necessary to produce the desired effect. 4.Modify the number of cycles fired at the target to determine whether target susceptibility is affected by burst duration. 5.Contractor shall document the various effect levels observed and how the various configurable system parameters impact system effectiveness against each target. 6.Perform electric field modeling in relationship to how they relate to the scale sizing of the system to defeat various targets. 7.Produce a preliminary design document for a full scale system. 8.Produce report summarizing results and produce a continuation of R&D.
