High-Definition Panasonic P2 Recorder/Reader Equipment Specifications Requirements: The Department of Labor, Office of Public Affairs (OPA), Division of Audiovisual Communication Services (DAVCS), produces audio-visual products for presentation and distribution in order to support the Office of the Secretary (OSEC) and Department of Labor (DOL) agencies with their programs and initiatives. Projects requested by OSEC and DOL agencies are intended for various audiences, including DOL employees, congressional members, labor organizations, employer groups, educational groups and the general public. In FY 2010 and due to an increase in Departmental events and initiatives requiring High-Definition (HD) cameras, DAVCS purchased three (3) Panasonic HD cameras. In FY 2011, DAVCS requires the purchase of additional recorders and card readers to assist in its field video production work as well as in-house duplication. The additional devices must be compatible with DAVCS' existing facility configurations: the items must operate in SDI (Serial Digital Interface) P2 (Proprietary software for Panasonic) HD as well as interface with the existing AVID editing system and Rimage duplicating system. These devices must meet current broadcast standards. •1. DAVCS requires a single slot memory card (AJ-PCD2GPL) for recording video for field work within and outside DOL. •2. DAVCS requires a P2 5 slot memory card (AJ-PCD20) for use by in the third in-house AVID editing system, which was brought on-line earlier in FY 2011. •3. DAVCS requires a rack mountable multi-format recorder/player (AJ-HPD2500PJ) in order to real all P2 video data recording on the already-purchased HD Panasonic cameras. This equipment will allow DAVCS to transfer the P2 data directly to DVDs for duplication rather than require import via the AVID editing system, which can result in costly time delays up to 2 hours. Experience has shown that these time delays have impaired our ability to meet demanding deadlines of the Office of the Secretary. •4. DAVCS requires a portable P2 slot recorder (AG-HPG24) in order to record live programs in the DOL Auditorium as well as Great Hall.
