- SFSIAQ11R0052_ SLS Testing Upgrade Map SFSIAQ11R0052_ SLS Testing Unit The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is the Federal Government's primary training institution for officers and support personnel of the U.S. foreign affairs community, preparing American diplomats and other professionals to advance U.S. foreign affairs interests overseas and in Washington. At the George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center, the FSI provides more than 450 courses, including some 73 foreign languages, to more than 50,000 enrollees a year from the State Department and more than 40 other government agencies and the military service branches. The SLS (School and Language Studies) Testing Unit maintains twelve exam rooms for Foreign Service language testing. Those rooms are monitored with two IP (POE) cameras each which are recorded and managed by a Genetec Omnicast Pro (http://www.genetec.com/) system. The Testing Unit records both high quality media (audio & video with an emphasis on audio) for archive, dispute and teaching of the exams, but also uses low quality to secure the testing rooms.
