- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for new licenses of Renderman Pro Server and PixarsEmbedded Renderer, along with software maintenance for both new and existing licenses ofRenderman Pro Server and Renderman Studio.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Simulistic LLC, pursuant to FAR 13.106 forthe acquisition of supplies or services determine to be reasonably from one source. Within that industry, it is common knowledge that all software updates to the Rendermansoftware come only from the manufacturer, PIXAR Animation Studios. PIXAR AnimationsStudios has only one authorized reseller for Government purchases, Simulistic LLCThe Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities statement to perform the effortin writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local time onSeptember 22, 2011. Such statements will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an statement which shall be considered by the agency.
