- This is a NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT using the simplified acquisition procedures under FAR Part 13 to acquire the required supplies, install and test Fiber Optic Cable for the Marine Barracks Washington Generals ™ Residence and Enlisted Aide ™s (EA) Offices in order to support adequate Connectivity/Bandwidth to The Local Network and Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN) for the Marine Barracks Washington(MBW), located in Washington DC. The Government intends to award a sole source contract for the above procurement to Southern Maryland Cable (SMC), 5932 Solomons Island Road, P. O. Box 30, Traceys Landing, MD 20779. The proposed contract action is for procurement of supplies and services for which the Government intends to solicit only one source. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. SMC established the existing fiber optic cabling infrastructure in the Generals ™ residences and offices. MBW General Row consists of fragile and historic buildings and a site survey conducted by another contractor to identify the existing fiber optic cabling infrastructure increases the risk for expensive building damage. DURATION: This requirement will be for a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Procurement. This notice is for information purposes only and is not a request for quotation. No solicitation document is available and telephone, fax, or e-mail requests will not be honored. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based on this notice is within the discretion of the Government.
