Description
NAVSEA and DLA are performing a Market Analysis into electric motors for future ship acquisitions and motor replacements. We are currently undertaking a study to capture corporate information, confirm technical specifications, understand process time, and acquire material cost breakdowns of the current electric motors found throughout the Navy fleet. This information will be used as a part of a future Request for Proposal for electric motors to be released next month (October 2011) from DLA. The future RFP will solicit bids towards a five year requirements contract that will consolidate new acquisition and replacement electric motor purchase across the fleet. This contract may allow a motor supplier the opportunity to increase the volume of motors sold to the Navy relative to current sales levels. This contract will be accessible by the Navy, shipyards, and shipyard contractors and subcontractors. We are requesting information through four separate Exhibits. Please note, all motors must conform to MIL-DTL-17060G specifications. Exhibit 1 includes information about your company and general terms and conditions. Exhibit 2 Intentionally left blank Exhibit 3 identifies the process time required to manufacture an electrical motor. Please fill in the process times for each step in the process. If the step is not included in your process, please input ""NA"" for that step. If there are additional steps that need to be added, please include them in the space provided located at the end of each section labeled ""Additional rotor process steps"" or ""Additional stator process steps"" or ""Additional final assembly steps"" or ""Additional final accessories steps"". Exhibit 4 lists the material used to build an electric motor. Please assign a percentage relative to the total motor material cost for each cost category. If there are significant cost items not included, please provide them in the space provided located at the end of each section labeled ""Additional raw materials"" or ""Additional purchased materials"". Exhibit 5 clarifies any definitions or terminology referenced within the template for Market Analysis. Please complete Exhibit-based data and return this file prior to September 20, 2011. Note: this request is not meant to solicit a proposal and does not in any way constitute an order or award.
