Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse, Office of Acquisitions- Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisitions on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with MRA, 1480 Washington Road, Washington, PA 15301 for an electronic view window system with MRI compatible video cameras, LCD display, and digital video recording. The newly installed MR750 will be used primarily for neuroimaging of children (more than 65% of scheduled hours). Because of this emphasis on studies of children, a patient monitoring system like the MRA electronic view window is essential to maintain maximal patient safety and to ensure the quality of the collected data. In the MR750, there is currently no adequate means to monitor the safety, comfort, and cooperation of children in the scanner from the control room. It is also important in studies of adults to monitor their behavior in the scanner. MRA is able to ensure compatibility with other systems (3T-A, 3T-B, 3T-SKyra, 7T-830 ) and also because the company has significant expertise in maintaining the integrity of the RF shield. This is essential when retrofitting an existing MR bay with a video system. This video patient monitoring system will be used with our new 3-tesla scanner. The system is designed to work in a strong magnetic field environment. It provides digital display and digital video recording of patients in the magnet without any RF interference. Reseachers are able to observe and closely monitor their subjects' ongoing experiments. The vendor is the only known provider for this system. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 12 procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NOI2216309 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Bldg 31, Room 1B59, Bethesda, MD 20892-2080, and Attention: Susan A. Nsangou, Contracting Officer.
