- The Army Contracting Command - Rock Island intends to solicit, negotiate and award, on a sole source basis, a requirement for 1 EA Sheffield Discovery III Model D-12 Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). The requirement is in support of production at Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA), Crane IN, and includes installation, training, and service of the machine. The intended source is Hexagon Metrology, Inc. All CMM programs currently utilized by CAAA are proprietary to Sheffield. Due to the non-compatibility of other manufacturers' software with CAAA programs, there is only one qualified source reasonably available.
