Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to procure a Single Tilt Liquid Nitrogen Cryo Transfer Holder from Gatan, 5797 W. Las Positas Blvd, Pleasanton, CA 94588. NIDDK has a need for a Gatan Cryotransfer holder for the delivery of frozen hydrated biological specimens to the FEI Tecnai TF20 high-resolution electron microscope. Recent advantages in electron microscopy, especially the ability to examine specimens in the quasi-native frozen-hydrated state, have made molecular imaging on the atomic scale possible on specimens that are not easy to study with X-ray diffraction and NMR spectroscopy. The Gatan cryotransfer holder will be used for structural determination of macromolecular assemblies preserved in a near-native, frozen-hydrated state using single particle, 2D and helical reconstruction image analysis methods. The Gatan model 626 Cryotransfer holder enables users to load and transfer frozen suspensions frost-free at temperatures<-150 deg C to the Tecnai TF20 electron microscope. This action is under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(1), as set forth on FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306-302-1. Only one responsible source and no other will satisfy agency requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received with 7 days after the publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Confidentiality - No proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should be included in your response. The Government reserves the right to use any non-proprietary technical information in any resultant solicitation(s).
