- This is a Notice of Intent to award a non-competitive contract to the Safe Kids Worldwide located at 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W., STE 1000, Washington, DC 20004. Safe Kids is a nationwide network of organizations working to prevent unintentional childhood injury, the leading cause of death and disability for children ages 1 to 14. Safe Kids maintains more than 600 coalitions and chapters in 49 states bringing together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families. Services include: · Teaching families about child injury risks and prevention: · Encouraging and conduct research on leading injury risks; · Evaluating solutions for injury risks; · Working to pass and improve child safety laws and regulations; · Providing lifesaving devices such as child safety seats, helmets and smoke alarms to families who need them; · Promoting corporate leadership in child safety through effective and sustainable partnerships. The contractor shall provide the following services for FEMA's child safety outreach program: Conduct the Start Safe Program which is delivered at 4 Head Start locations in Washington, DC where the incidents of fire and burns are the highest. Safe Kids USA has established partnerships with key educational organizations to promote fire and burn safety in elementary school classrooms. Their partners in fire safety education include the National Head Start Association. These partnerships have made the Start Safe program available to preschool programs nationwide, at no-cost. Update the Cooking and Fire Safety Program Guide with more educational activities based on the evaluations conducted in FY11. Contractor shall distribute the guide to the 600 coalitions and chapters throughout the US. Conduct three webinars for the 600 coalition across the US. Provide and maintain the Partnership with the Expert Network Academy. This free online training tool for the educators and professionals worldwide, was created by Safe Kids and has more than 2500 registered users making use of the extensive collection of modules designed for educating the public-most specifically children and families. It will be available for our use for educating fire service professionals and other educators across the US. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) determined that Safe Kids Worldwide is very uniquely qualified to perform this work. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to provide these services via e-mail to Monique Matthews, no later than 3:00 PM, EST, Friday, September 23, 2011. E-mail address: monique.matthews@fema.dhs.gov. Capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination not to compete this proposed procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This Notice of Intent is NOT a Request for Proposal (RFP) for competitive proposals.
