- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Arcata Fish and Wildlife Office, 1655 Heindon Road, Arcata, CA 95521, is requesting services to contract the unique service of Texas State University, River Systems Institute to complete the following work products. Technical assistance, oversight, evaluations of steps, and reviews that are necessary to develop the multiple 2D hydrodynamic and habitat models for the Klamath and Trinity Rivers Systems. This vendor is currently a principal technical team member of the ongoing development of the 2D hydrodynamic modeling efforts underway on both the Klamath and Trinity Rivers, the SALMOD updating efforts associated with the Secretarial Determination of the Klamath River Restoration and Hydropower Agreements, and made significant progress with implementing an adult Chinook Salmon IBM prior to this contract. The sub-programming habitat components utilized within the existing SALMOD are the results of multiple 2D hydrodynamic and habitat model simulations associated with the vendor's previous instream flow evaluations of the mainstem Klamath River. The vendor has also developed the existing habitat modeling routines for target species and life stages of salmon that are integrated with the 2D hydrodynamic modeling efforts and are anticipated to be modified to meet current objectives. These efforts performed by the same entity greatly increases efficiency resulting in substantial savings, and contributes to the collective comprehensiveness of the final products. The vender has an excellent scientific relationship with many of the agencies, tribes, and stakeholders affiliated with the Klamath Basin fisheries and often sought by these parties for technical assistance.
