- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to award a delivery order to Orbital Sciences Corporation, Chandler, AZ, as the contractor repair facility and the operations support contractor for the GQM-163A, to provide support to ensure that hardware and services will be available to support future launch operations. This contract includes the identification/documentation and packing and shipping of hardware associated with operation support to occur in September through December 2011. The GQM-163A is a surface launched aerial target system that emulates the anti-ship cruise missile in support of weapons system test and evaluation. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of Title 10, U.S.C. Section 2304(c) (1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, 'Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.' A determination by the Government not to compete this effort is solely within the discretion of the Government. GENERAL INFORMATION: Orbital Sciences Corporation is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the Supersonic Sea Skimming Target (SSST) and is the only known qualified, responsible source that possesses the necessary knowledge, experience, and technical data required to fulfill the requirements specified.
