- Software Requirements Request for Information The Social Security Administration (SSA) is attempting to identify responsible contractors that are capable of providing software and accompanying maintenance for the products described in the attachment. SSA will install the software products on SSA's Mainframe and Systems at the National Computer Center (NCC) located in Baltimore, Maryland, at the Second Support Center (SSC) located in Durham, North Carolina and at a future National Support Center (NSC) also located in Maryland. SSA will install the distributed software products on a number of servers and workstations located in the NCC, the SSC, the future NSC and throughout SSA's Program Service Centers and the States' Disability Determination Service offices. During the term of the contract period, SSA may move the software to another SSA or SSA-controlled site at no additional charge. This request for information (RFI) announcement is for information and planning purposes only; vendors should not construe it as a commitment by the Government. The Government will not award a contract based upon responses to this RFI. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is performing a cost benefit analysis study to determine that costs of replacing some z/OS mainframe and distributed software that provides a variety of functions in SSA's Enterprise Architecture. This RFI groups multiple products into "Product Families" based upon similar functions and interoperability. The salient characteristics listed are not comprehensive, and are only intended to provide and overall understanding of the major requirements of the products. (See Attached Document) Vendor Responses Any firm that feels they have the capability of providing alternative software products that meets the requirements listed above must respond, in writing, via e-mail to the Contract Specialist by the response due date posted. The Government will not consider Vendor submissions of simple marketing materials or brochures, incomplete responses that do not conform to the elements of this request for information, or references to vendor websites. This is not a request for proposal. THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT ISSUING A FORMAL SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME. The Government will not acknowledge requests for copies of a solicitation at this time. The Government will not return any information submitted in response to this notice, nor will the Government pay for any information submitted in reply to this notice. SSA will use information submitted in response to this notice for market research efforts and for procurement planning purposes. The Government reserves the right to contact, or not contact, any party responding to this notice in order to obtain further information for market research purposes. Vendors must respond in an electronic format (compatible with MS Office 2003) via e-mail to the Contract Specialist by the due date specified. The Government will not consider faxed information. The file size limitation for e-mail attachments is 5 megabytes. Respondents should refer to SSA-RFI-11-0830. Electronic responses only must be submitted by e-mail to rick.bolt@ssa.gov. The information requested must be received no later than 4:00 pm Eastern Time on September 15, 2011.
