- The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke-Flow Cytometry Core Facility (NINDS-FCF) intends to negotiate and award on a non-competitive basis purchase order to Beckman Coulter, Inc, 11800 SW 147th Avenue, Miami, FL, 33196-2500 for the purchase a Biosafety Level-2 (BSL-2) compliant MoFlo Astrios cell sorter system. This equipment will provide multi-parametric flow cytometric analyses and preparative cell sorting services for intramural investigators requiring BSL-2 compliant flow cytometry equipment to carry out basic and clinical scientific research using potentially infectious human and animal materials that mandate implementation of standard BSL-2 laboratory practices. Beckman Coulter is the manufacturer of the MoFlo Astrios cell sorter system. No other distributor or re-seller is available. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR Part 12 procedures and exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
