- Nondestructive 3D micro CT of geological materials allows for more rapid analysis of properties such as grain orientation, pore connectivity, density variations, and microstructure than traditional analyses. Data generated by micro CT will aid in determining the best location to cut and further analyze the material by scanning electron microscopy, electron microprobe, and laser ablation ICP-MS which are destructive techniques that require a moderate amount of sample preparation and analysis time.
