VA-797-11-RI-0227 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) FOR CLOSED TRACHEAL SUCTION SYSTEM REPLACES VA-797-11-RI-0217 which closed 8/26/11 (If you responded to 0217 that is sufficient) RFI CLOSES SEPTEMBER 12, 2011, 3:00 P.M. Central Standard Time The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Acquisition Center (NAC) intends to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Closed Tracheal Suction System. VA NAC wishes to learn if there are customary commercial practices in the market place regarding specifications and packaging of 'Closed Tracheal Suction System'. This is an effort to ensure the specifications are not overly restrictive or unreasonable. Please submit any suggestions, questions, comments on specifications; and/or information, including product literature/brochures describing your firm's ability interest to provide these items. Double Swivel Connection to tracheal tube and ventilator circuit 2.Leak-proof clear plastic membrane cover over catheter 3.Rounded Catheter tip 4.At least 1 side hole and one end hole at catheter tip 5.Separate needleless lavage port 6.Suction control mechanism contains a locking protection feature 7.Sizes must include 14 and 16 french 8.Sterility of catheter maintained in a closed system 9.Opaque marker at tip 10.Graduations in centimeters no greater than 2-centimeter intervals 11.Instructions for use in the package 12.Standard and tracheotomy tube lengths 13.Product may be used for up to 72 hour 14.Latex Free Product 15.Catheter sheath remains securely attached to the base when catheter is withdrawn from tracheal tube 16.Catheter fully retracts into the sheath 17.Catheter does not cause airway obstruction 18.Non-sticking Suction control valve 19.Suction control mechanism leak-proof when locked, there is no perceptible vacuum applied to catheter 20.When catheter is retracted, there is no ventilator gas passing into covering sheath
