- Description
- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a requirement for the Contractor evaluation/teardown, repair/upgrade or overhaul/upgrade and test of Government-owned items applicable to the Multi-Mode Digital Radar (MDR) system. The MDR system is comprised of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs). ITT Corporation is the authorized source of repair/overhaul and owner of internal design of the MDR System. The FAA contemplates awarding a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Requirements contract with one base and two one-year option periods to fulfill this requirement. The FAA intends to solicit and negotiate only with ITT Corporation Communications Systems of Fort Wayne, IN., accordance with AMS Policy 3.2.2.4. The determination to solicitation and negotiate with only one firm is necessitated and supported by the fact that ITT Corporation owns the proprietary data rights associated with the equipment to be repaired under the contemplated contract. The design and proprietary data rights exclusively available to ITT Corporation include all manufacturing specification data required for the repair of the MDR Sytem equipment.
