- Description
- SRI International proposes to develop an Augmented Reality Training prototype system (ART) to address the needs of the Marines. This revolutionary approach to training uses computer graphics and special head mounted displays to insert virtual actors and objects into the scene as viewed by each trainee. The virtual actors respond in realistic ways to actions of the Marines, taking cover, or firing back, or milling as crowds. Virtual actors and objects are seen interacting with fellow trainees and real objects in the environment. The ART also tracks the actions of each trainee in detail. Perhaps most importantly, there is no need to instrument the training facility-the primary hardware needed to implement ART is worn by the individual trainees.
