Description
This work includes maximizing efficiency of the steam system through replacing defunct steam traps and pipe insulation throughout the campus. The project will take place at George E. Wahlen, Salt Lake City VA Medical Center campus, 500 Foothill Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84148. DESCRIPTION: The replacement of defunct steam traps will include buildings B.1, B.2, B.3, B.5, B.6, B.7, B.8, B.9, B.13, B.14, B.27, B.38 and B.45. Sizes of steam traps include ½, ¾, 1, 1 ¼, 1 ½, and 2 inch steam traps. This project replaces insulation throughout the campus on various steam, chilled water and hot water systems. Replacement or provisions for pipe/valve/various hydronic accessories insulation on multiple utility pipes, to include chilled water, hot water, steam condensate, cold water, and high and low pressure steam in above stated buildings. The insulation will be of rigid, blanket, wrap or other as appropriate for the application as detailed in the drawings. Contractor to furnish labor and materials as required in drawings and specifications. All work will be coordinated through Engineering Services. Davis-Bacon wage rates apply. GENERAL: Period of Performance: The contractor shall complete project within 210 calendar days of receiving Notice to Proceed. All design and work will conform to the current edition of the VA Master Specifications and VA Design Standards as published at the following site: www.cfm.va.gov, code of Colorado Regulations, EPA, ASHRAE, IBC 2003, NFPA and NEC building code and standards.
