"Information Only": The North Texas Veterans Health Care System Contracting Office (90C) anticipates awarding Firm Fixed Price construction contract for the Renovation of Building 60, LTC Phase I, Project No. 549-CSI-100, located at the VA Medical Center, 4500 S Lancaster Road, Dallas, Texas. The scope of this project involves the demolition of 24 existing patient toilet rooms and expanding the building footprint in order to construct 24 additional patient room toilets, which would provide the facility with 48 new patient toilet rooms. The project also involve renovating 10 existing toilet rooms with new finishes, plumbing fixtures, lighting and exhaust system improvements. The existing nurse stations will be demolished and reconstructed in different locations throughout wings A and B. The new nurse stations will be constructed on the in-filled portions of the existing courtyards and the area previously used as the nurse stations will be visitor/patient lounges. To improve the energy efficiency of the building the existing corridor lighting comprising of lay in 2x4 light fixtures with T12 lamps will be removed and replaced LED down lights. A total of 196 new LED fixtures will be installed in the corridors. The lighting in the non corridor spaces will be replaced with the same size or type of fixture, but will be of a more efficient fixture, these total 316 fixtures. The new square footage required to construct the toilet rooms will be concrete on carton forms and since this additional square footage is under the existing roof line no additional roofing will be necessary for the toilet expansion. The new nurse stations and storage areas will be constructed into the courtyard spaces and the suspended concrete slab will be supported on drilled caissons. The structural frame will be steel and shall tie into the existing frame and new metal roofing to match the existing system will also be installed. The method of procurement shall be a Invitation for Bid (IFB) in accordance with Parts 14 and 36 of the FAR, with anticipated issue date on "or" before August 19, 2011 and proposed due date of September 19, 2011. This requirement is a competitive offer, Set Aside 100% for SERVICE DISABLED VETERAN OWNED SMALL BUSINESS (SDVOSB), under Public Law 109-461 (38 USC 8127).
