- Description
- Additional Information Metadata RFI: 1. Responses to the RFI are due 12 August 2011, by 4:00PM local time (Charlottesville, Va). 2. The Government will consider COTS products that are certified and accredited elsewhere in the Government, but that may not yet have a Net worthiness Certification issued by the US Army Network Enterprise Technology Command/9th Army Signal Command. 3. There are around 20 Terabytes of documents/records/messages from which metadata would be managed. 4. Appendix C - Feature Requirements - Operations - #3. "System shall provide exception reports, notifications, and statistical information." The mandatory core statistical information are: Percent increase in metadata over certain timeframe; Percent of overall collection being sent to or access by specific end user; Number of data sources in the system; Number of technical and business users and percentage as part of overall usage; etc. 5. One possible option would be for the System/Software to have a service oriented (Webservices call, etc) means of letting metadata be discoverable by visualization tool(s). How that information is visualized is out of scope for this RFI. 6. An example of a non-developer interface for integration would be a visual manager that would allow technical users to map and integrate data from various sources; point, click, and link either to established data standards, schema, and/or between data sources. Software/System should be able to store this information for future use. A visual manager would then save the mapping for future use and scheduling purposes. 7. "The system shall support 5 terabytes (TB) of attachments." The aggregate size of the all the documents/records/messages that will be managed by the NGIC Metadata Environment is around 8 Terabytes. 8. The Government is seeking a commercial off-the-shelf solution for this effort. 9. Possible functions for this System/Software include Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) or Extract, Load, and Transform (ELT) processes, data integration, and discovery and dissemination.
