Description

The Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility is seeking product specification and performance criteria from industry for a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coated fabric for use in abrasive blasting hoods. Abrasive blasting hoods are worn in heavy industrial (shipyard) environments. The purpose of the abrasive blasting hood fabric is to protect the wearer from abrasive blasting media rebound and it is intended to go over the head, shoulder and torso. Requirements for the coated fabric are included in attachment 1. The desired color for the coating is orange; however, sample yardage can be submitted in any color. Specification sheets, sample yardage, product literature, company brochures, places of manufacture and other relevant information are requested from all interested sources at no cost to the Government. Product information shall be submitted at no expense to the Government and will not be returned. Proprietary data MUST be marked on a page-by-page basis, and will be kept confidential and protected in accordance with the Uniform Trade Secret Act. Interested sources shall state whether their product is available commercially and made domestically of domestic materials. This Request for Information is subject to the Berry Amendment, 10 USC 2533a. Materials must be Berry Amendment compliant and manufacturers must list the origin and place of manufacturing operations of all components. This announcement is NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL nor does the Government intend to pay for any information submitted in response to this synopsis. This synopsis does not commit the Government to award a contract. This synopsis is for market research only and any procurement resulting from this announcement will be synopsized separately.
