- Description
- The VA Western New York Healthcare System (VAWNYHS), Buffalo, NY intends to award a contract for Engineering Services to REPLACE STEAM RISERS. THIS ACQUISITION IS GEOGRAPHICALLY LIMITED TO FIRMS LOCATED WITHIN A 100-MILE RADIUS OF THE VAWNYHS - BUFFALO, NY and is set aside for small business. The North American Industry Classification System code is 541330 and the numerical size standard is 4.5 million. Award is subject to the availability of funds. Pertinent factors for consideration of qualifications for the Project Team, listed in order of importance are: (1) specialized experience and technical competence of the firm (including a joint venture or association) with the type of service required, (2) specific experience and qualifications of personnel proposed for assignment to the project, and record of working together as a team (3) capacity of the firm to perform work within the time limitations (4) past record of performance on VA Western New York contracts (5) geographic location and facilities of the working office(s) which would provide the professional services and familiarity with the area in which the project is located. Work includes but is not limited to: 1A Services, asbestos assessment, field investigation as necessary to confirm capacities of existing utilities, and constructability of the concepts, consultation/meetings/discussions with staff to establish specific program requirements and schematic design. Pt. IB Services (including but not limited to preparation of working drawings, specifications and cost estimate), Part 2 Services including but not limited to: review submittals, address requests for information, attend meetings & Part 3 Services (site visits). The following is an overview of the design requirements: Prepare preliminary calculations for determining sizing of new steam riser mains and turn over calculations to the VA. Sizing to be based on a future load to handle adding an air-handling unit on every other floor in each of the 4 wings (air-handler load to be similar to recent units installed). Conduct thorough investigations to determine best routing for new steam and condensate lines throughout the crawl space and for one steam riser in each of the 4 wings of the hospital. Valve and cap branch lines at each floor for future connections. Add regulator and valve in crawl space and at each floor level. Provide schedule 80 steel, 2' and under threaded, 2-1/2' and larger welded. Extend new steam and condensate to the existing air-handling units and disconnect from existing hospital system. Provide testing services for asbestos in areas of work. Cost of construction is estimated between $250,000. and $500,000. All interested parties are required to submit qualifications to the Contract Specialist on Standard Form 330. Submit two copies of SF 330 to the above referenced address and include the routing symbol (90NCA). Please ensure that all required information is submitted and accurate. Firms should include all relevant information regarding past projects designed, which are similar in type to this project. This is NOT a request for a fee proposal.
