- The Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, China Lake, CA intends to procure on an other than full and open competition basis the following service: Welding assessment to joining Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) continuous fiber reinforcement tubes to metallic cylindrical end closures. This requirement is sole sourced to Edison Welding Institute (EWI), 1250 Arthur E. Adams Drive, Columbus, OH, 43221, as the only vendor able to conduct this service based on historical hands-on knowledge of refined techniques and processes for joining continuous fiber reinforced MMC to the metals (Steel, Al, & Ti) that will be utilized. Any firms believing that they can provide this specialized service may submit a written response to be received at the Contracting Office no later than 5 days after the date of publication of this notice. It must clearly show the firm ™s ability to be responsive without compromising the quality, accuracy or reliability of the services without causing programmatic hardship. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
