- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with PI (Physik Instrumente) L.P. in Auburn, MA for a Super Resolution Microscopy Scanning System. ***Sole Source determination is based on NIST's requirement for a super resolution microscopy scanning system that is 100% hardware and software compatible with an existing Physik Instrumente P-733 XYZ super-resolution scan stage and controller. The system must be compatible in order to utilize custom control and acquisition software written with Physik Instrumente's proprietary scan control libraries. Therefore, PI is the only company/source that can provide the required system which is 100% compatible with existing systems. PI is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this system. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 5 weeks after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 22, 2011.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
