- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be issuing an Invitation for Bid Replace for Plumbing Service Lines, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Bedford, Massachusetts. The NAICS code for this project is 238220, size standard $14 million. The estimated construction cost is between $1 - $5M. The contract is expected to be awarded by September 30, 2011, and the estimated completion date is 240 calendar days for Base Bid work and 60 additional days for any Options exercised. The scope of this project includes the replacement of plumbing service lines (CW, HW and HWR) within the building envelope of buildings 2, 3, 4, and 6, including water supply, temperature and pressure regulating valves, shutoff valves and back flow preventers. The project shall be phased, to the maximum extent possible to minimize down time in each building. Some of the work features include, but not limited to: OSHA defined confined spaces entry where hazardous materials are present; providing two access hatches in existing floor slabs, demolition of the concrete floor, patching existing flooring and setting the access hatches; miscellaneous metals work; providing access doors in existing walls, demolition of the lath and plaster, patching existing walls and setting the access doors; connecting to existing piping, labeling all plumbing service water lines; removal of existing insulation and existing gate valves and providing new ball valves, additional piping, insulation, insulation jacket and incidental related work; insulating bare pipe and fittings with new insulation, insulation jacket and incidental related work; providing new backflow prevention device at the new water main, and fire-stopping at where piping passes through walls and floors. The work shall require close coordination with VAMC Bedford and advanced notice shall be provided for all scheduled water shutdowns. The work will require the contractor to perform water shutdowns and connections to existing piping during the time of day to minimize impacts to the facility. The Contractor will be required to perform this work during evenings and weekends. The estimated cost of this procurement is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. This solicitation will be available on or about 19 August 2011 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http://www.fbo.gov).
