Description
The purpose of this modification is to: (1) Incorporate the following focus area for FY12: Airborne Wide Area SAR Processing (Air WASP) and (2) Change the FY12 recommended date for white papers for this topic area only. All other information remains unchanged. (5) Airborne Wide Area SAR Processing (Air WASP) The objective of this research is to develop and demonstrate optimized algorithms on a tactical General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit (GPGPU) high performance computer cluster for meeting future Air Force wide area persistent surveillance needs. The algorithms of interest include, but are not limited to: SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imaging using back projection techniques, coherent change detection, ground moving target detection, and ISAR (Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) imaging of moving targets. Resultant radar information (images, detection reports, etc.) will be disseminated using an information management system. The existing Horus and Condor HPC clusters at the RRS will be available for initial software development, either by working on site or through remote connection. A new HPC cluster, one designed specifically for this task, will be available mid way through the effort and will be the system used for final ground and airborne test and demonstrations. The target radar for the demonstration will be the Gotcha Spiral II system concurrently being developed by the AFRL Sensors Directorate. Questions regarding this focus area can be directed to: Michael Little (315) 330-7964 Michael.Little@rl.af.mil White papers for this focus area only will be accepted at any time until 2pm Eastern time on 6 Sep 2011. Individual awards will not normally exceed 27 months with dollar amounts normally ranging between $200K to $500K per year. White papers may be sent to: Stan Lis, RITB, Stanley.Lis@rl.af.mil
