Description

The Wilmington VA Medical Center, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE intends to issue a Firm-Fixed Price Construction Design/Build contract award to a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). The contractor will supply all materials, trained labor, tools and equipment needed to completely prepare site for building operations and perform the work. This work will include general construction, for : 1.Furnish and install quantity 150 toilet jacks on toilets installed at VAMC Wilmington main Hospital and outlying buildings. Basis of design is BAR Industries SK1000 series. Support must be capable of supporting 1000 lbs. and be spring loaded to allow for cleaning underneath the toilet. 2.Remove and replace or reinforce a total of quantity 60 chair carriers. 22 are located in building 17, 34 are located on the fourth floor of building 1, and 4 are located on the west side of building 1. In these areas, walls must be opened up, carriers reinforced or replaced, new low-flow toilets with new flush valves installed, and the wall patched back to its original condition. 3.Remove and replace 1000 linear feet of handrail throughout building 1. New handrail to be all one style, similar to that found on the west side of the ground floor. 4.Remove and replace all handrail on the outside wall of stair towers 1, 3, 5, 7. New handrail to be code compliant and all one style. Stair distances as follows: a.Stair 1: Ground Floor - Floor 9. b.Stair 3: Floor 1 - Floor 2. c.Stair 5: Ground Floor - Floor 8. d.Stair 7: Ground Floor - Floor 8. 5.The DB Contractor is to plan all phasing of work in coordination with Hospital staff in order to minimize disruption to hospital operations. 6.Infection control measures must be installed in accordance with the requirements of the infection control nurse. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 236220. The U.S. Small Business Administration Size Standard is $33,500,000.00. The SOLICITATION issue date will be approximately AUGUST 18, 2011 with an approximate response date of SEPTEMBER 19, 2011. A pre-bid meeting and site visit will be scheduled around AUGUST 25, 2011. Contractors are encouraged to read the entire solicitation and send questions to the Contracting Officer before the pre-bid meeting. The solicitation will be an Invitation for Bid (IFB) and will be issued as a 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business set-aside. The project magnitude is between $100,000.00 and $250,000.00. The solicitation will result in a Firm-Fixed Priced Contract. The entire solicitation will be made available only on the Electronic Posting System (EPS) web site https://www.fbo.gov/index?cck=1&au=&ck=. Paper copies of the solicitation will not be available. The SOW, contract drawings and specifications will be available when the solicitation is posted. Once the solicitation is posted, it is incumbent upon the interested parties to review the EPS website frequently for any updates/amendments to any and all documents.
