Description
The US Forest Service contemplates posting the solicitation AG-0116-S-11-0146 White Sulphur Springs Cabin Replacement Project on the Federal Business Opportunity website on or about August 17, 2010. We reserve the right not to release a solicitation. NOTE REGARDING FEDBIZOPPS LISTINGS. The FedBizOpps website has three separate listings for the Forest Service in Alaska. These are (1) R-10 Alaska Region, Juneau, AK; (2) R-10 Chugach National Forest, Anchorage, AK; and (3) R-10 Tongass National Forest, Ketchikan, AK. Prospective bidders are advised that these three listings are not purely geographic and that a requirement on either the Chugach (Anchorage) or Tongass (Ketchikan) National Forest may be posted under the Regional Office (Juneau) listing. Thus, prospective bidders seeking Forest Service opportunities in Alaska should visit both the appropriate Forest listing (Anchorage or Ketchikan) as well as the Regional listing (Juneau). The solicitation contemplated by this notice will appear under the Ketchikan listing. PROJECT DESCRIPTION. The base bid of this contract is for the construction of a 15' x 17' yellow cedar cabin with a front and side deck; a pit toilet, and a woodshed. Option item one is for the fabrication and installation of cabin furnishings. The use of primitive tools is required for all work on this project on National Forest lands. Unless otherwise provided, the Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies and perform all work required to complete the project in accordance with the specifications and provisions of the contract. SOLICITATION DETAILS. The following preliminary details are provided for the benefit of prospective offorers, but are subject to change in the actual solicitation. Estimated price range: between $100,000 and $250,000. Contract type: firm-fixed-price. Period of performance: desired start date March 2012 with 180 period of perfromance. Solicitation type: Request for proposal. Proposals due: 30 days after solicitation issuance. Contract award date: within 60 days after bid opening. Required bonds: bid bond with the bid and performance and payment bonds after award of a contract. OBTAINING A SOLICITATION. Place of Performance
Address: The project site is about 65 air miles northwest of Sitka, alaska on Chichagof Island within the West Chichagof/Yakobi Island Wilderness Area. A trail leads from the small protected bight at the northwest cornder of the West Arm or Mirror Harbor at approximately 57o 47’ 52.14”N, 136o 19’56.92”W. Access is by boat or limited small plane. There are no utilities onsite. The nearest community is Pelican, Alaska, located 15 air miles northeast., Sitka, Alaska, United States
