- Trimble GeoXH 6000 hand held device This is a NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT using Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.201, for Full and Open Competition after exclusion of sources and FAR Part 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The Office of Surface Mining, Western Region, 1999 Broadway, Denver, Colorado, 80202 has a requirement to procure the following item: Project ObjectiveTo test the new Trimble handheld devices for SMCRA related mobile computing operations. BackgroundTrimble handheld devices are being widely used by many people for SMCRA related mobile computing applications. One of the major tasks given to TIPS mobile computing team is to research, prototype, and recommend efficient and innovative technology to SMCRA community. Scope of WorkThe new Trimble GeoXH 6000 series is one of the latest products by Trimble. The company claims that they have made substantial improvements compared to their older models. The new units will be assigned to TIPS mobile computing users and tested focusing on the following operations: 220 channel GNSS receiver with real-time H-Star technology that will provide sub-foot (real-time) and decimeter (post-processing) accuracy,Floodlight satellite shadow reduction technology in tough environments (GPS signals),Sunlight readable display,Autofocus camera for capturing high quality photographs and link directly to features,Long-life batteryRuggedness of the unit,Compatibility with existing TIPS core hardware and software for nationwide usage,Opportunity for substitution for existing bureau and TIPS external customer equipment that could become inoperable,Augmenting existing units for training purposes. OSM Supplied ResourcesHandheld computers TIPS Mobile Computing Deliverables and SchedulesThe person(s) who are assigned to test the new computers will be given six months to evaluate and develop a written statement of recommendations on findings. The written recommendations will be submitted to TIPS Mobile Computing Team Leader and Chief or TIPS and Technology Transfer Branch. The Government intends to award a sole source contract to:Seiler Instrument and Manufacturing Company Incorporated, 3433 Tree Court Industrial Blvd, Saint Louis, MO, 63122-6617 The Government will consider all responses received within 7 days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This announcement is not a request for competitive proposals. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence, that competition would be advantageous to the Government in future procurements.
