Description
Introduction: Pursuant to FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), the Mission Contracting Office, Fort Bragg, NC intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order on a sole source basis to: Thermo Fisher Scientific, 46 Jonspin Road, Wilmington, MA 01887. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT IS AVAILABLE. RESPONSES WILL BE USED FOR FUTURE ACQUISITIONS ONLY. 1. The Mission Contracting Office - Fort Bragg, NC (MCO-FB) intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order on a sole source basis to: Thermo Fisher Scientific, 46 Jonspin Road, Wilmington, MA 01887 for First Defender RMX S5 Handheld Identification System with remote mode (Part # 800-00215-01); Quantity 3. 2. Thermo Fisher Scientific is the only source that can provide the FirstDefender RMX 5 Raman Spectrometer. In addition, Thermo Fisher Scientific provides on-site training, 24/7 technical support and a warranty/support package which includes library and software updates. 3. An online market search was conducted to identify other vendors that could provide FirstDefender RMX5 Raman Spectrometer, however none were found that met the requirements. 4. The FirstDefender RMX 5 is in fact the system chosen by the Army to be the program of record. This will assist the unit in maintaining sustainability with their current equipment. This system is also one of the few systems recognized as a valid legal source for legal evidentiary material. FirstDefender RMX 5 is also the system used by most of the Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies within their HAZMAT and Bomb Disposal Units/Teams. 5.
