- General Information Document type: NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE Solicitation Number: NB631050-11-04008 Posted Date: 07/19/2011 Original Response Date: 07/28/2011 Current Response Date: 07/28/2011 Classification Code: 66 - Instruments and Laboratory Equipment NAICS Code: 811219 Contracting Office Address Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, 100 Bureau Drive, Building 301, Room B125, Mail Stop 1640, Gaithersburg, MD, 20899-1640, UNITED STASTES Description The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the NIST Material Measurements Laboratory intends to negotiate with Applied Biosystems LLC on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Subsection 13.106-1(b), for an AB Assurance service plan to cover an Applied Biosystems SOLiD v.4 UHTS system (serial # 138000451) annual preventative maintenance. SOLiD v.4 UHTS system is a critical piece of laboratory equipment. Applied Biosystems is the only service provider for this instrument. Technology and part for this instrument are proprietary. Applied Biosystems is the sole manufacturer of this system. Applied Biosystems has no distributors for this instrument. NO solicitation package will be issued. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. Inquires will only be accepted via email to maria.gray@nist.gov. The government will consider responses received by 3:00 p.m., EST, 07/28/2011. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition base on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. In the absence of responses NIST proposes to negotiate with Applied Biosystems LLC on a sole source basis. No telephone requests will be honored.
