- Description
- Responses are due 04 August 2011. Request for Information (RFI) - Wireless Hands-free Internal Communications Device The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic, Code 6.3.2.0 is seeking information on commercially-available communication devices operating over a wireless local area network (WLAN) for use by the Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) at Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and Deployed Medical Facilities (DMFs). Device characteristics that will support these capabilities include a system that is light-weight, secure, hands-free, wireless, and ruggedized with instant or near-real-time communication among providers, staff, and potentially patients. This collaborative form of patient care will enhance communication and clarification of healthcare treatment plans and protocols; using a single voice command to automatically notify appropriate personnel. The device will be able to operate using current infrastructure or provide infrastructure for future wireless applications where cell phone reception is poor with acceptable levels of electromagnetic interference (EMI). The solution will also serve as part of mass casualty planning and operations. Submittals The information received shall be reviewed to conduct objective, comparative assessments and validation of commercial equipment and systems. All information received will be treated as public knowledge; therefore, vendors should not submit proprietary information in response to this RFI. Specific information sought includes: 1. Company information, including name, address, and URL. 2. Whether the company is a manufacturer or distributor. 3. A point of contact for follow-up information, and the point of contacts phone number and e-mail address 4. A brief description (75 words or less) of capabilities and existing or related products. 5. Any relevant cost information such as purchase price and General Services Administration (GSA) schedule information. Questions of a technical nature should be address to the technical point of contact, Joe Schepisi at Joseph.H.Schepisi@navy.mil. This RFI is for information gathering and planning purposes only, and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or solicitation of an offer. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and the Government's use of such information. Respondents of this RFI may be requested to provide additional information/details based on their initial submittals. E-mail your non-technical questions and submittals to the Contract Specialist, Paula Somers, at paula.somers@navy.mil.
