- This is NOT a pre-solicitation notice pursuant to FAR Part 5, but a market survey to indentify sources that could provide a linear actuator rail system that can propel a test article at high acceleration over a moderate length of travel for Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF). The minimum specifications and unique restrictions for the apparatus are listed below. Minimum Requirements for Linear Actuator/Motor: • The linear actuator shall horizontally accelerate from rest a 25-lb. test article at a minimum of 10 Gs (~100 m/s2) for a period of time no less than 250ms then shall decelerate at a minimum of 10 Gs bringing the test article back to rest in a non-destructive manner. • Approximate test article dimensions: 16" long, 6" wide, 10" height. Item will be accelerated along its longitudinal axis. Center of gravity for the load is approximately the geometric center. • Positional precision and/or repeatability of exact motion is not of particular interest. • Application is non-industrial, however as many as 1,000 separate cycles shall be performed at a rate of approximately one cycle per minute. • Apparatus shall function in an indoor or outdoor environment. • If a linear induction motor is used, any electromagnetic field induced by the actuator shall absolutely not be apparent to the test article. • Acceleration and deceleration shall be controllable via computer interface. Minimum Requirements for Linear Rail: • The minimum length of travel shall be 8 meters. • The test article shall travel the length of the rail in a smooth fashion, i.e., non-violent lateral motions. • The rail shall be modular to allow for easy transportation. The tentative North America Industry Classify System (NACIS) is 333923 with a small-business size standard of 500 employees. The Government will not reimburse vendors for any cost incurred for their participation in this survey. Large and small businesses are encouraged to participate in this survey. Response time to this survey is due 29 July 2011 @ 2:00 PM Central time. Responses shall be limited to 15 double-sided pages (8.5" X 11"), including attachments, figures and/or drawings, and no smaller than size 12 fonts. Respondents shall also include the Point of Contact (POC) for technical and contractual issues to include name, position, telephone number, and email address. All interested parties must be registered in CCR to be eligible for an award of Government contracts.
