- Description
- The Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking the services of a qualified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business construction company to provide all labor, material, transportation, equipment and qualified supervision required to construct an approximately 20,500 sq. ft addition to the existing inpatient Polytrauma Center and renovate approximately 16,700 sq. ft of the adjacent existing area, in order to create a new Poly-Neuroscience Center at the H.H. McGuire VA Medical Center, 1201 Broad Rock Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia, 23249. The work shall be sequenced and phased so as to minimize disruption or interruption of medical center clinical functions. In conjunction with the new construction, the scope of work requires significant upgrades and improvements to the structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems of the existing building as well as Level II asbestos abatement. The extent of work includes portions of the second floor and first floor rooftop on the southern side of the main medical center (Building 500). In general, the existing building is a flat-roofed, concrete framed, exterior cavity wall brick building, federally mandated and designed to comply with the structural requirements set forth by the Department of Veterans' Affairs Design Guide for Life Safety protected facilities. All work shall be performed in strict accordance with construction drawings and specifications prepared by CANNON DESIGN, and completed within 630 days after the Notice to Proceed. This includes final Inspection and cleanup. The NAICS code for this project is 236220 with a small business size standard of $33.5 million. The estimated construction cost is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The drawings and specifications will be uploaded as part of the solicitation on/about 7/28/2011. A date and time for a pre-bid conference / site visit will be stated in the solicitation. The bid opening is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday 9/6/2011. Questions or Requests for Information (RFI's) from Bidders must be typewritten and e-mailed to the Contracting Officer, Mark S. Harville @ mark.harville@va.gov. Bidders shall not contact VA Engineering directly to ask questions or request site visits. As this procurement is 100% set-aside for SDVOSB firms, Contractor must be registered in the Central Contract Registration database and the Center for Veterans Enterprise database (VetBiz) in order to submit a bid or be eligible for award. Contractors must have their Online Representations and Certifications completed prior to contract award.
