Description
Notice details in Word format. FedBizOpps Release Electronic Flight Bags Industry Day Headquarters, Air Mobility Command (AMC) Aircrew Standardization/Evaluation and Platform Requirements will host an "Electronic Flight Bag Industry Day," 5 October 2011 at Scott AFB, Illinois. For this conference, AMC is seeking industry/academia information on current-to-near-term material solutions (tablets to Class III devices) that could be fielded on Mobility Air Forces (MAF) aircraft. Desired electronic flight bag (EFB) capabilities include any/all of the following: aircrew publications/manuals, flight information publications, moving map with aircraft position, and the ability to host additional programs/applications currently fielded on carry-on laptops. AMC is interested in EFBs as both a fuel saving initiative (replacing paper products) and a capability enhancement. Interested companies and academia that have experience, knowledge, and/or developmental efforts or concepts concerning aircraft EFBs are invited to submit a brief, UNCLASSIFIED abstract (no more than 2 pages). The abstract should describe: 1) the company's or academia's material solution, 2) how the material solution would be integrated into air mobility operations, 3) timeline for operational implementation. HQ AMC Aircrew Standardization/Evaluation and Platform Requirements will select the most applicable abstracts and invite selected companies/academia (based upon the abstracts) to present an UNCLASSIFIED briefing to a government EFB focused audience. The audience is expected to include representatives from HQ AMC, AMC field units, Air Force Flight Standards Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Air Force Research Laboratory, Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), other military commands, DOD agencies, and Services. Abstracts and presentations should focus on current and near-term (within 5 years) efforts/concepts. Abstracts shall be written using Microsoft Word; email to: efbindustryday@us.af.mil no later than (NLT) 12:00 pm CDT on 15 August 2011. Please do not include videos. HQ AMC will notify selected companies and academia NLT 1 September 2011 and request submission of an UNCLASSIFIED presentation. Presentation schedule/agenda will be provided shortly thereafter. Presentations shall be built in Microsoft PowerPoint. Each presenter will be allotted 45 minutes for presentation, questions/answers, discussion, and comments. Space will be provided for all selected companies to display/demonstrate their product. Final presentations for those selected must be provided through email: efbindustryday@us.af.mil NLT 12:00 pm CDT on 15 September 2011. Information gained from "Electronic Flight Bags Industry Day" will be used to enhance continuous exchange of EFB efficiencies, problems, practices, and solutions among government organizations. Additionally, information gained may be used to inform senior leaders and become the basis for defining requirements. Questions/additional information can be sent to email: efbindustryday@us.af.mil. Note: Information presented and obtained during "Electronic Flight Bags Industry Day" shall not be considered as a solicitation for competitive bid, nor will it obligate the government to any contractual action. The information requested herein will be used within the Air Force/DOD to facilitate decision making and will not be disclosed outside the agency. The Air Force/DOD will not discuss, accept, or evaluate any unsolicited proposal from any industry representative. Additionally, the appearance of any industry/academic representative is not intended as, and does not imply, any endorsement of, or preference for, the particular industry representative. Attendance is strictly voluntary and at vendor's and/or academic expense. The government will not reimburse any costs related to contractor/academic abstract/presentation submissions or attendance.
