- This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bids to obtain construction services for the "CALUMET PRAIRIE-IVANHOE SOUTH ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION PROJECT," located in LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA. PROJECT INFORMATION: Under the contract set, the Contractor will be responsible for necessary plant facilities, labor, transportation, materials and equipment to include increasing the ecological structure and function of areas with monotypic stands of invasive species, clearing successional woodlands to restore historic wet prairies, opening the canopy of sand savanna habitats to reestablish herbaceous savanna flora, reintroducing deep rooting native flora to restore natural hydrologic regimes and nutrient cycling, reintroducing fire, increasing populations of conservative and rare plant species, while protecting existing high quality habitats. ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED to SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System Code 561730, which applies a small business size standard in dollars of $7.0M. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Bidders can download the IFB Package from the Internet Site http://www.Fbo.gov. The IFB will be available at the above-mentioned Internet site on 15 July 2011. Bids will be due by 4:00pm CDT on 15 August 2011. In order for contractors to be awarded contracts with the Department of Defense, the contractor must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR); Contractors can access the CCR for free at http://www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price services contract from this acquisition. Request for solicitation packages made by telephone, fax or e-mail will not be honored.
